Orioles take close one from Rays

The Baltimore Orioles narrowly defeated the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards with the Orioles coming out on top 4 to 2. It was a solid match that aficionados with Orioles tickets won’t soon forget. Not much compares to America’s Pastime so stock up on cheap baseball tickets and see all the fun live.

Orioles pitcher Jim Johnson (4.04 ERA) got the win, while Russ Springer (4.39 ERA) took the loss for the Rays. Chris Tillman went 6.2 solid innings for the Orioles, allowed 5 hits, one home run and one earned run with one walk and no strikeouts. Also pitching for the Orioles was Matt Albers (5.22), and Danys Baez (4.03). The Rays’s starter Andy Sonnanstine went 5.2 innings, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Grant Balfour (4.79), Brian Shouse (5.18), and J.P. Howell (2.89) also pitched for the Rays. With the win, Johnson’s record goes to 4-5, while Springer is at 0-4.

In addition to the 4 runs, the Orioles scored 5 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Orioles, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Rays didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Rays scored 2 runs, 7 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Mike DiMuro, Ron Kulpa, Dale Scott and Rob Drake. There were 10,548 Orioles ticket holders in attendance at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

The win puts the Orioles at a record of 60-85, (33 games behind the division leader), while the loss brings the Rays to 73-73, (20.5 games behind first place in the division). The Rays and Orioles go again tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
