Rays blank Orioles 3-0

The Tampa Bay Rays faced the the Baltimore Orioles yesterday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards with the Rays winning 3 to 0. Wow! What a nail biter! The Orioles’s starter Mark Hendrickson went 3.1 innings, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with no walks and no strikeouts. Dennis Sarfate (6.48), Cla Meredith (4.25), Brian Bass (4.97), Sean Henn (6.23), Chris Ray (6.53), and Alberto Castillo (2.25) also pitched for the Orioles. With the win, Davis’s record goes to 1-1, while Hendrickson falls to 5-5.

In addition to the 3 runs, the Rays managed 10 hits and committed no errors. Evan Longoria led the Rays in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Carl Crawford’s 2 hits. Pat Burrell had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. The Orioles didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Nick Markakis could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Orioles managed no runs, 4 hits and no errors.

The win puts the Rays at a record of 74-73, (20 games behind first place in the division), while the loss brings the Orioles to 60-86, (33.5 games behind the division leader).
