Rays edge Mariners by 1

The Tampa Bay Rays got a tough win over the Seattle Mariners yesterday at Tropicana Field with the Rays victorious 5 to 4. It was a huge win that rooters with Rays tickets aren’t likely to forget. You never know what you’ll see at a baseball game so get your cheap tickets today!

Rays pitcher Russ Springer (4.25 ERA) got the win, while Mark Lowe (3.04 ERA) took the loss for the Mariners. Wade Davis went 5.2 innings for the Rays, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with one walk and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Rays was Lance Cormier (3.28), Chad Bradford (4.35), and Brian Shouse (5.04). The Mariners’s starter Brandon Morrow went 5 innings, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and 2 earned runs with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Garrett Olson (5.72), Miguel Batista (4.26), Shawn Kelley (4.53), and Jason Vargas (4.93) also pitched for the Mariners. With the win, Springer’s record goes to 1-4, while Lowe drops to 2-7. Randy Choate earned the save for the Rays, bringing his saves up to 5.

In addition to the 5 runs, the Rays put up 8 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Rays, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Dioner Navarro had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. Michael Saunders had the most hits for the Mariners (3), followed by Jack Hannahan (2), and Ichiro Suzuki (2). The Mariners mustered 4 runs, 10 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Damien Beal, Bruce Dreckman, Paul Emmel and Scott Barry. There were 13,009 Rays ticket holders in attendance at Tropicana Field.

The win puts the Rays at a record of 78-74, (18.5 games behind the division leader), while the loss brings the Mariners to 79-73, (11 games behind first place in the division).
