The Tampa Bay Rays squeaked to victory over the Baltimore Orioles yesterday at Tropicana Field with the Rays triumphant 3 to 1. It was a thrilling night of baseball that anyone with Rays tickets will definitely cherish. It’s not too late to take in a game so get your baseball tickets soon!
Rays pitcher Wade Davis (3.45 ERA) got the win, while Jeremy Guthrie (5.05 ERA) took the loss for the Orioles. Wade Davis went 7 solid innings for the Rays, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Rays was Russ Springer (4.15), Lance Cormier (3.20), Dan Wheeler (3.36), and Randy Choate (3.71). The Orioles’s starter Jeremy Guthrie went 7 innings, allowed 7 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with one walk and 4 strikeouts. Dennis Sarfate (5.85) also pitched for the Orioles. With the win, Davis’s record goes to 2-1, while Guthrie falls to 10-17. Grant Balfour earned the save for the Rays, bringing his saves up to 3.
In addition to the 3 runs, the Rays managed 8 hits and committed no errors. Willy Aybar led the Rays in hitting with 3 hits, followed by Reid Brignac’s 2 hits. The Orioles didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Orioles mustered one run, 9 hits and no errors.
Umpiring duties were performed by Phil Cuzzi, Chad Fairchild, Mike Estabrook and Jerry Crawford. There were 10,349 Rays ticket holders in attendance at Tropicana Field.
