Rays edge Orioles by 1

The Tampa Bay Rays edged the Baltimore Orioles yesterday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards with the Rays securing the victory 5 to 4. It was a great baseball game that fans with Rays tickets will remember for quite some time. There’s not much better than a baseball game so get your MLB tickets before its too late.

Rays pitcher James Shields (4.90 ERA) got the win, while Brad Bergesen (6.51 ERA) took the loss for the Orioles. James Shields went 6.1 solid innings for the Rays, allowed 8 hits, one home run and 4 earned runs with one walk and one strikeout. Also pitching for the Rays was Randy Choate (6.29), and Joaquin Benoit (0.85). The Orioles’s starter Brad Bergesen went 5.1 innings, allowed 9 hits, one home run and 5 earned runs with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Jason Berken (2.50), Mark Hendrickson (5.23), and David Hernandez (4.29) also pitched for the Orioles. With the win, Shields’s record goes to 8-9, while Bergesen drops to 3-8. Rafael Soriano earned the save for the Rays, bringing his saves up to 24.

In addition to the 5 runs, the Rays put up 11 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Rays, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Jason Bartlett had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. The Orioles didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Orioles got 4 runs, 9 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Chad Fairchild, Eric Cooper, Bill Miller and Mike Reilly. There were 19,286 Orioles ticket holders in attendance at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
