Rays blank Yankees 3-0

Wow! What a game you saw last night if you had Tampa Bay Rays tickets, when James Shields threw a no hitter for the WIN_TEAM!! Congratulations to Shields as well as the Rays for an incredible accomplishment. You never know what you will see at a baseball game and if you were at Tropicana Field yesterday you’ll have a story to tell for the rest of your life! Wow! What a nail biter! This was a pitchers duel that James Shields and CC Sabathia will never forget! Fans with Rays tickets saw two fantastic pitchers do battle. You don’t see baseball games as low-scoring as this, and when you do you better appreciate it! It’s not too late to take in a game so get your baseball tickets soon!

Rays pitcher James Shields (4.54 ERA) got the win, while CC Sabathia (3.19 ERA) took the loss for the Yankees. James Shields went 7.1 solid innings for the Rays, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with one walk and 11 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Rays was Chad Qualls (8.15). The Yankees’s starter CC Sabathia went 6.2 innings, allowed 8 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Kerry Wood (6.00), and Chad Gaudin (6.49) also pitched for the Yankees. With the win, Shields’s record goes to 10-9, while Sabathia falls to 13-5. Rafael Soriano earned the save for the Rays, bringing his saves up to 30.

In addition to the 3 runs, the Rays managed 9 hits and committed one error. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Rays, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Reid Brignac had a tough day at the plate, leaving 6 runners on base. The Yankees didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Yankees mustered no runs, 5 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Bill Welke, Mike DiMuro, Tim Welke and Scott Barry. There were 36,973 Rays ticket holders in attendance at Tropicana Field.
