Rays Lose Close One To Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays edged the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday at Rogers Centre with the Blue Jays securing the victory 5 to 4. It was a great baseball game that fans with Blue Jays tickets will remember for quite some time. There’s not much better than a baseball game so get your MLB tickets before its too late.

Blue Jays pitcher Kevin Gregg (3.29 ERA) got the win, while Rafael Soriano (1.95 ERA) took the loss for the Rays. Shaun Marcum went 6 innings for the Blue Jays, allowed 6 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Blue Jays was Jesse Carlson (3.86), Jason Frasor (4.07), and Scott Downs (2.63). The Rays’s starter Jeff Niemann went 5 innings, allowed 2 hits, no home runs and 3 earned runs with 4 walks and 5 strikeouts. Randy Choate (4.61), Grant Balfour (2.51), and Joaquin Benoit (1.55) also pitched for the Rays. With the win, Gregg’s record goes to 2-5, while Soriano drops to 2-2.

In addition to the 5 runs, the Blue Jays put up 5 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Blue Jays, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Rays didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Dioner Navarro could not get much going at the plate as he left 5 runners on base. The Rays got 4 runs, 8 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Mike Reilly, Bill Miller, Chad Fairchild and Eric Cooper. There were 14,658 Blue Jays ticket holders in attendance at Rogers Centre.
