Rays thrashed by Blue Jays 13-5

The Toronto Blue Jays crushed the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday at Tropicana Field with the Blue Jays coming out on top 13 to 5. You don’t often see such high scoring games, and anyone with Rays tickets sure got their money’s worth. This high-scoring game saw the teams combine for a whopping 18 runs! Talk about excitement! Not much compares to America’s Pastime so stock up on cheap baseball tickets and see all the fun live.

Blue Jays pitcher Ricky Romero (3.60 ERA) got the win, while Jeff Niemann (3.97 ERA) took the loss for the Rays. Ricky Romero went 7.1 solid innings for the Blue Jays, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and 4 earned runs with 5 walks and 5 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Blue Jays was Casey Janssen (3.69), and Jason Frasor (4.03). The Rays’s starter Jeff Niemann went 5 innings, allowed 7 hits, one home run and 7 earned runs with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Lance Cormier (4.67), and Andy Sonnanstine (4.29) also pitched for the Rays. With the win, Romero’s record goes to 11-8, while Niemann is at 10-5.

Jose Bautista provided much of the offense for the Blue Jays with an incredible 4 runs batted in. In addition to the 13 runs, the Blue Jays scored 15 hits and committed one error. Dewayne Wise led the Blue Jays in hitting with 3 hits, followed by John McDonald’s 2 hits, and Vernon Wells with 2. The Rays didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. The Rays scored 5 runs, 5 hits and no errors.

Umpiring duties were performed by Jeff Nelson, Mark Carlson, Jeff Kellogg and Larry Vanover. There were 12,972 Rays ticket holders in attendance at Tropicana Field.
