The Minnesota Twins beat the Tampa Bay Rays in 13 innings yesterday in a hard-fought game of baseball. You never know what you’re going to see at a baseball game, and an MLB extra-innings game is always a possibility. Wow! What a nail biter! This was a pitchers duel that Matt Guerrier and Lance Cormier will never forget! Fans with Rays tickets saw two fantastic pitchers do battle. Twins pitcher Matt Guerrier (3.31 ERA) got the win, while Lance Cormier (4.28 ERA) took the loss for the Rays. Scott Baker went 8 solid innings for the Twins, allowed 3 hits, no home runs and no earned runs with one walk and 7 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Twins was Matt Capps (2.77), Jesse Crain (2.98), and Jose Mijares (2.49). The Rays’s starter David Price went 7 innings, allowed 5 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. Randy Choate (5.81), Chad Qualls (7.88), and Dan Wheeler (2.83) also pitched for the Rays. With the win, Guerrier’s record goes to 2-6, while Cormier is at 3-3.
In addition to the 2 runs, the Twins scored 10 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Twins, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. Michael Cuddyer had a tough day at the plate, leaving 5 runners on base. The Rays didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Evan Longoria could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Rays got one run, 5 hits and no errors.
